What first interested you in Magic (or even TCGs more generally)? Was there a moment, or did it happen more gradually?
What got me interested in magic was my friends, Nate and Moe, they convinced me to look into it, that I might like the game. What got me hooked was the Fallout set that had recently come out in spring of 2024. I bought my first four precons, and I never looked back. I became hooked.
Similarly, what first got you interested and active in content creation? What keeps you interested?
What got me interested in content creation for Magic came from me wanting to find a place to showcase my collection and also connect with like minded individuals in the community. Everything happened really quickly but I have helped other people create content, and now I figured since I love Magic so much it felt only like the right thing to do, and I enjoy it.
What’s your all-time favorite Magic card, and does it hold a personal story or significance for you?
My favorite magic card, now that's a difficult one because there so many, but I would have to say it Yuriko Tiger's Shadow, and the deck I built around her. It was the first time I started to win in my local pod, after 2-3 months of nothing but losing. But that's the nature of the game and I learned quickly. Plus, getting around commander tax is great.
If you had to choose one Magic format to play forever, which would it be and why?
Commander.
Who are some creators or players in the Magic community that inspire you or you think deserve more recognition?
There are so many creators out there that are honest and grinding every day to name a few Dicktokens, Saltydeckgaming, the unseen MTG, Jankmats, even your very own account lifeisaresource!
What’s your take on the current state of Magic: The Gathering—formats, new sets, or the community?
My take on the current state of Magic, I am honestly along for the ride i don't really have a strong opinion since I am so new. I see both sides from the OG's and also the new players coming in. What I can say is that Wizards needs to slow down with how quickly they pump out product, but other than that I love the game and the community I have found myself in.
Have you ever had an epic Magic moment—like a top-deck win, an unexpected combo, or a perfect draft—that you’ll never forget?
I was playing Chatterfang vs Wasitora Dragon tribal, I had gotten my last opponent to about 8 life, I had a wide board but no protection from flying. I had Moldervine Reclamation on the board with Warren Soultrader, it was my opponent's turn and he swung out with all of his dragons, leaving me with 1 life. I didn't have enough squirrels to destroy his creatures, at least not enough to get through damage wise, my only hope was a Moldervine and Soultrader combo paying 0 life and creating a treasure token, I was looking for aura to enchant Chatterfang with enough +1 counters to get the win. It was a very, very close game
What’s one Magic card or mechanic you think is underrated or doesn’t get the love it deserves?
One magic card that's underrated is Nuka Cola Vending Machine from the Fallout set. It's amazing. Great token generation for food and treasures. I pair it with Chatterfang to help get more squirrels.
How has being part of the Magic: The Gathering community enriched your life, and what do you value most about it?
Being part of this community has brought me happiness honestly, and yes that's probably the perfect word for it, it has enriched my life deeply, I am able to go to the local LGS and play games in person with my friends, connect with amazing people on IG, i went to my first Magic con in Vegas this last year so that's another plus. What I value most about MTG is how it can bring people together, total strangers that wouldn't perhaps link up and have a conversation. No wonder its called Magic the Gathering.
