What first interested you in Magic (or even TCGs more generally)? Was there a moment, or did it happen more gradually?
It was a childhood thing, I remember going to family therapy as a kid(I didn’t understand it at the time) and my parents bought us some Yugioh packs after. Circa 2000 or so.
Similarly, what first got you interested and active in content creation? What keeps you interested?
It’s just fun sharing the love of the game! I have people all over the world who just get to connect and share similar experiences about having a good time slinging spells with friends.
If you had to choose one Magic format to play forever, which would it be and why?
Draft for sure. I really enjoy Commander as well, but something about getting a few packs and making do with what you've got is always so much fun. Prerelease events have always been a favorite for me.
Who are some creators or players in the Magic community that inspire you, or you think deserve more recognition?
@phyrexianprophet is just such a great page. I never met him in person, but his passion for the game is something else. Second shout out to @woodlandfern, great women in magic are something we need more of, and I think she does a wonderful job of embodying that.
What’s your take on the current state of Magic: The Gathering—formats, new sets, or the community?
I think people get too caught up in this. The internet becomes an echo chamber, to be honest. There’s always someone to complain about something. In my opinion, if you don’t like the set, then just move on or don’t buy it. But plenty of people do, so I don’t see magic going anywhere anytime soon.
Have you ever had an epic Magic moment—like a top-deck win, an unexpected combo, or a perfect draft—that you’ll never forget?
Anytime I get to cast Majestic Genesis or Last March of the Ents, I just feel incredible. I’m a big stompy player at heart, and any chance I get to slam some big dudes down feels incredible.
What’s one Magic card or mechanic you think is underrated or doesn’t get the love it deserves?
Flashback. I love graveyard decks, and any chance I get to mill a card and use it still always feels amazing. On the same vein would be Dredge. Just two solid mechanics I don’t see enough of.
How has being part of the Magic: The Gathering community enriched your life, and what do you value most about it?
Honestly, after starting my page, it’s been wonderful seeing how stoked people get to play. I do frequent giveaways, and I’m blessed to have the ability to do weekly giveaways. Just seeing the excitement of people getting cards and knowing they get to go out and have some fun makes it worth it. Magic isn’t about how much you spend, it’s about the times you get to spend with people that matter the most. It transcends race, gender, countries, and anything else; we’re all here to have a good time, and it’s incredible.
